Operation Methodology Technical Specifications Range of Application
PAPILLON DPP series are compact handheld devices with fingerprint scanners embedded, especially designed for the growing needs in in-the-field identity checks through enquiries to the AFIS databases using subjects’ touch fingerprints. (See also PAPILLON FILTER).
At present, the family of PAPILLON DPP devices includes three versions supporting the ISO/IEC 19794-x data format for the interchange of biometric information:
|
PAPILLON DPP-3 is designed on the base of a cell phone. It enables express identity checks against a central AFIS database using cellular channels (EDGE/GPRS/GSM) for data communication.
|
|
PAPILLON DPP-4 is designed on the base of the VOIPAC microcomputer. It is configured not only for wireless connectivity with a central AFIS, whether it be WiFi or EDGE/GPRS/GSM, to carry out one-to-many person identification, it is also used to verify and authenticate documents including machine-readable and those with embedded chips.
|
|
New product PAPILLON DPP-5 uses a fingerprint sensor, high-resolution touchscreen and 37-key keyboard. A built-in card reader (SMARTCARD) enables verification of ID documents.

PAPILLON DPP terminals allow:
- fast and accurate fingerprint acquisition
- immediate compression and transmission of fingerprint images for AFIS database search
- automatic feedback and display of identification results
- remote access to the PAPILLON AFIS resources from anywhere and at any time
- concurrent identity checks across multiple AFIS databases
Operation Methodology: How It Works
- Direct scanning of any two flat fingerprints
- Automatic image compression and transmission to PAPILLON AFIS
- Automatic search against the tenprint database and transfer of search results to the requestor
- Reception and display of search results on the screen: demographic data and photos available in all identified as Hits tenprints
PAPILLON DPP-4 offers local matching on the terminal, identifying people on a database locating on a removable data medium.
DPP-4 document verification features:
- Reads ICAO-compliant (Doc 9303) electronic passports:
- 1 and 2 lines of machine-readable zone (MRZ) data
- Data stored in a contactless chip (two RFID readers by PAPILLON for different variants of embedding in the card body, data rate 848 Kbit/s)
- Displays data read from documents on a built-in LCD display.
- Scans document pages in white, IR and UV light and displays the result on LCD (scanning in various light ranges allows to check contrast of printing in accordance with Doc 9303 ICAO (IR B900 Ink), to verify protection fibers, microfonts and security patterns, and to make a conclusion about document authenticity).
