Brief Description of ARSENAL Standard Configurations
ARSENAL is a highly flexible system and allows for the possibility to select the most optimal configuration of the system, in respect to the price and quality ratio, according to customer's requirements. The basic configuration criterion is a database capacity. It is a database capacity that enables the definition of optimal amount of workbenches for operators and input terminals. Regional and national projects of automating ballistic record files are realized through creation of a Central Site and network of remote sites.

ARSENAL-Scanner Workstation
It is designed only for inputting images captured from objects. It is utilized as a part of larger firearms identification systems, being an input workstation (local or remote).
The ARSENAL-Scanner workstation consists of:
ARSENAL 1000 System
It is designed for a 1,000 object record database. It fulfills all principal functions of ARSENAL (image capture, encoding, searching, generation of recommended lists, verification, archiving). It can be used as a remote workstation in the systems of a higher level.
The ARSENAL 1000 system consists of:
ARSENAL 10000 System
It is designed for a 10,000 object record database. It consists of a server that carries out all principal functions of the ARSENAL system (except image input), matchers and ARSENAL-Scanner input workstation. Up to 10 input workstations can be attached to the server simultaneously. They can be connected with the server by both local Ethernet and telephone lines.
If it is required to carry out preliminary searches against a local database at the site of input, ARSENAL 1000 can be utilized instead of an ARSENAL-Scanner Station. ARSENAL 10000 can be utilized as a remote site when constructing regional systems.
ARSENAL 50000 System
It is designed for a 50,000 object record database to automate large bullet and cartridge case identification record files such as regional and republican ones. It consists of a Central Site and network of remote sites. The Central Site includes a network of ad hoc matchers, communication server, central server, MemoryBox image library and operators' workbenches.
The ARSENAL 50000 system automates the following tasks:
-
Processing data incoming from remote sites (encoding, systematizing, etc.)
-
Searching
-
Transferring search results to remote sites
-
Filing records
A network of remote sites can include both ARSENAL-Scanner and ARSENAL 1000 workstations.
Searches are carried out on two levels: first against local databases and, if result negative, the information is transmitted to a second level (central) for searching against central databases.
Remote sites can be connected with a Central one by means of standard telephone lines.
